Introduction

Escrow is the balance of USDT held for an open P2P order. It keeps the seller's amount attached to that order while the buyer completes the fiat payment and the seller confirms the result.

How escrow works

When a buyer takes an active offer, the order records the price, fiat amount, USDT amount, payment method, and payment window. The seller's USDT is locked in escrow instead of remaining available for another transfer. It is released only when the trade is completed or returned according to the order outcome.

The order lifecycle

  1. Escrow locked: the order is open and the USDT is reserved.
  2. Paid: the buyer has marked the fiat payment as sent.
  3. Released: the seller confirms receipt and the USDT moves to the buyer.
  4. Cancelled or expired: the order ends without release under the applicable order rules.
  5. Refunded: the reserved amount is returned after the order is resolved.

When an order is disputed

A buyer or seller can open a dispute while the order is in a payment-related state. Add a clear reason and explanation in the trade room, and keep the order conversation and payment evidence attached to the same trade.

A dispute changes the order to Disputed for review. It does not release the escrow automatically and does not replace the order history.

What happens after a dispute

The order remains visible with its status and messages while the issue is reviewed. Follow the instructions shown in the trade room, respond to requests for information, and wait for the resolution before treating the escrow balance as available.

Completed, refunded, cancelled, and expired orders remain useful in order history because they show how the balance was resolved.

Escrow is an order balance, not a second spendable wallet. Wait for the final trade status before moving or using those funds.
